Manchester Central is an exhibition and conference centre located in the former Manchester Central railway station. The station opened in 1880 and closed to passengers in 1969. The building was then renovated as an exhibition centre and music venue in 1982 when it was called the G-Mex Centre. Until 1995 it was Manchester's primary music venue. The centre has 10,000 sq.m. of exhibition space and an 804 seat auditorium.
