The London Eye is a giant ferris wheel on the south bank of the River Thames in London. The wheel is 135m tall and has a diameter of 120m. When the wheel was erected in 1999 it was the tallest ferris wheel in the world. Now, however, it remains the tallest ferris wheel in Europe. It is the most popular paid tourist attraction in the UK with some 3.5 m visitors each year.
