About Haarlem and the train services available
Haarlem is a city in the Netherlands and capital of the province of North Holland. It is located on the northern edge of the Randstad which is one of the most populated metropolitan areas in Europe. Haarlem is some 20 km to the west of Amsterdam and lies on the river Spaarne. It has been the centre of the tulip bulb growing district for centuries which has directly lead to it being nicknamed "Bloemenstad" (flower city).
Haarlem is served by two railway stations: Haarlem railway station and Haarlem Spaarnwoude. From Haarlem railway station passengers can connect to services departing towards Amsterdam (2 hours and 20 minutes), Laiden, The Hague and Zandvoort aan Zee. From Haarlem Spaarnwoude trains can be taken to Amsterdam.
