Altrincham Interchange consists of a bus station, Northern Rail operated heavy rail station located on the Mid-Cheshire Line and a light rail stop forming the terminus of Metrolink's Altrincham Line. The station serves the town of Altrincham. The heavy rail aspect to this transport hub was opened by the Manchester, South Junction and Altrincham Railway as Altrincham and Bowden railway station in 1881. The name changed to Altrincham railway station in 1974. The Metrolink stop opened in 1992.
