Southend Central railway station, operated by c2c, serves the Essex coastal town and resort of Southend-on-Sea. The station lies on the London, Tilbury and Southend railway and is located in Southend-on-Sea town centre, on Clifftown Road. The station provides easy access to bus services and South Essex College and the University of Essex Southend Campus. The station has a staffed ticket office although passengers should note that it is not open in the late evening. Passengers are able to collect tickets purchased in advance (for example, on the internet) from one of the automatic ticket machines located in the station. Southend Victoria is the other main line railway station serving the town and is also located in the town centre.Facilities at the station include pay phones, cafe, shops, toilets and baby changing facilities. Passengers should note that ATM's are not available at the station.Passenger services calling at the station are operated by c2c who offer destinations that includes London Fenchurch Street, Pitsea, West Horndon, Limehouse, Basildon, Grays, Ockendon and Shoeburyness.Parking is available at the station for 138 vehicles and is open 24 hours a day.

Located in the City of London, London Liverpool Street railway station offers passengers services to destinations including Norwich, Ipswich, Clacton-on-Sea, Colchester Town, Braintree, Southend Victoria, Stanstead, Cambridge and Cheshunt.London Liverpool Street railway station is operated by Network Rail and is the terminus of the West Anglia Main Line which runs from London Liverpool Street north through Cheshunt, Broxbourne, Harlow, Bishop's Stortford and Audley End (near Saffron Walden) to Cambridge, with branches serving Hertford and Stansted Airport. It is also the terminus of the Great Eastern Main Line which connects Liverpool Street with destinations in east London and the East of England. Passenger services calling at the station are operated by Greater Anglia, c2c and London Overground.Facilities at the station include ATM's, bureau de change, First Class Lounge, pay phones, public wifi, cafes and shops, toilets and baby changing facilities and tourist information office. There are no car parking facilities at the station.The station was opened in 1874 as a replacement for the Great Eastern Railway's main London terminus, Bishopsgate station, which was subsequently converted into a goods yard. Liverpool Street was built as a dual-level station with an underground station opened in 1875 for the Metropolitan Railway. It was called Bishopsgate until 1909 when it was renamed Liverpool Street. An additional station called Bishopsgate (Low Level) existed on the mainline just outside of Liverpool Street from 1872 until 1916.
