The station has a staffed ticket office and passengers are also able to collect tickets purchased in advance (for example, on the internet) from one of the automatic ticket machines located in the station. Facilities at the station include ATM's, pay phones, cafes, shops, toilets and baby changing facilities. The main entrance to the station faces Sheaf Square where passengers can also find a taxi rank.Passenger services calling at the station are operated by CrossCountry, East Midlands Trains, First TransPennine Express and Northern Rail. Between them passengers are offered services that depart towards London St Pancras, Derby, Leicester, East Midlands Parkway, Norwich, Nottingham, Liverpool Lime Street, Manchester Piccadilly, Edinburgh Waverley, Newcastle Central, Birmingham New Street, Bristol Temple Meads, Leeds and Lincoln.Parking is available at the station for 678 vehicles and is open 24 hours a day.
