Newton Abbot London Paddington Train

Newton Abbot railway station, operated by First Great Western, serves the Devon town of Newton Abbot. The station lies on the Exeter to Plymouth line via the Reading to Taunton Line and is located approximately 190 miles from London. The station has a staffed ticket office although passengers should note that it is not open in the late evening. Passengers are able to collect tickets purchased in advance (for example, on the internet) from one of the automatic ticket machines located in the station.

The main entrance is on the west side of the station facing Courtenay Park and Queen Street which leads into the town centre. The main entrance is through South Devon House which involves a couple of steps up to the platform, but a step-free route leads from the taxi rank on the south side of the building. The car park is beyond this on the site of the former Platform 4.

Facilities at the station include pay phones, refreshments, shops and toilets. Passengers should note that ATM's and baby changing facilities are not available at the station.

Passenger services calling at the station are operated by First Great Western and CrossCountry. Between them they offer passengers services that generally depart towards Penzance, Plymouth, Paignton, London Paddington, Exeter, Exmouth, Birmingham, Manchester and destinations in Scotland.

The site was first served by Underground trains in 1863, as the original western terminus of the Metropolitan Railway, the world's first underground railway.
