Newcastle railway station (sometimes called Newcastle Central), operated by East Coast, is the main railway station serving the city of Newcastle upon Tyne in Tyne and Wear, England. The station lies on the East Coast Main Line which connects London, Peterborough, Doncaster, Wakefield, Leeds, York, Darlington, Newcastle and Edinburgh. It also lies on the Durham Coast Line to Middlesbrough and the Tyne Valley Line to Carlisle. The station has a staffed ticket office although passengers should note that it is not open in the late evening. Passengers are able to collect tickets purchased in advance (for example, on the internet) from one of the automatic ticket machines located in the station.

Parking is available at the station for 469 vehicles and is open 24 hours a day.
