About Manchester
The city of Manchester is located in north west England and is roughly 160 miles from London and has a number of museums and galleries that celebrate its rich industrial heritage, its Roman history, the women's suffrage movement and sport. There is a reconstructed part of the Roman fort of Mamucium which is located in the Castlefield area of the city and is open to the public. The Museum of Science and Industry, which is located in the former Liverpool Road railway station, and has a large collection of steam locomotives, industrial machinery, aircraft and a replica of the world's first stored computer program.
