London Waterloo railway station, operated by Network Rail, is a central London main line railway terminus and London Underground station. The station is located close to the South Bank of the River Thames. The station is the UK's busiest railway station, by passenger numbers, and is the terminus for South West Trains services to south west London, Surrey, Hampshire, Dorset and parts of Berkshire. The station has a staffed ticket office and passengers are also able to collect tickets purchased in advance (for example, on the internet) from one of the automatic ticket machines located in the station. Facilities at the station include ATM's, bureau de change, pay phones, public wifi, cafes and shops, toilets and baby changing facilities.Passenger services departing from the station are operated by South West Trains and offer destinations that include Chessington South, Hampton Court, Wimbledon, Epsom, Dorking, Guildford, Woking, Basingstoke, Salisbury, Southampton, Portsmouth, Bournemouth, Weymouth and Exeter. Waterloo Underground station is served by the Bakerloo, Jubilee, Northern (Charing Cross branch) and Waterloo & City lines which is open Mondays to Saturdays only as it is intended almost exclusively for commuters who work in the City of London.Parking is available at the station for 27 vehicles and is open 24 hours a day.

The station is also served by the London Waterloo to Weymouth express and semi fast services. Passenger services calling at the station are operated by South West Trains. The station has two platforms capable of handling trains of 12 coaches in length. Platform 1 is bi-directional. Facilities at the station include pay phones, cafe and toilets. Passengers should note that ATM's and baby changing facilities are not available at the station. The station has a staffed ticket office although passengers should note that it is not open in the late evening. Passengers are able to collect tickets purchased in advance (for example, on the internet) from one of the automatic ticket machines located in the station. A taxi rank and bus stop are also located close to the station. Parking is available at the station for 146 vehicles and is open 24 hours a day. Under the station name signs on the platforms are additional boards informing passengers that Poole is the home of Bournemouth University, the main campus of which is located in the Talbot Village area of the borough.
