Liverpool Lime Street railway station, operated by Network Rail, is the main station serving the city of Liverpool. It is a terminus station of a branch of the West Coast Main Line which connects London to the West Midlands, the North West, North Wales and the Central Belt of Scotland. Liverpool Lime Street is the largest and oldest railway station in Liverpool and the station's facade is interesting in that it resembles a French Chateau. The station has a staffed ticket office and passengers are also able to collect tickets purchased in advance (for example, on the internet) from one of the automatic ticket machines located in the station.

Facilities at the station include ATM's, First Class Lounge, pay phones, public wifi, cafes, shops, toilets and baby changing facilities.

Passenger services departing the station are operated by East Midlands Trains, First TransPennine Express, London Midland, Northern Rail, Virgin Trains and Merseyrail. Between them they offer passengers destinations which include Norwich, Warrington Central, Manchester Piccadilly, Stockport, Sheffield, Nottingham, Newcastle Central, Manchester Victoria, Leeds, York, Manchester Oxford Road, Blackpool North, London Euston, Runcorn and Crewe.

Parking is available at the station for 280 vehicles and is open 24 hours a day.

Passenger services calling at the station are operated by London Overground, Virgin Trains, Southern, London Midland and First ScotRail.

Facilities at the station include ATM's, pay phones, cafe, shops and toilets. Passengers should note that baby changing facilities are not available at the station. Parking is available at the station for 750 vehicles and is open 24 hours a day.

In 1984 the Victorian station buildings were demolished and the station was rebuilt in a modern style with a travel centre and a large office block above the station which is occupied by the lorry and bus manufacturing company Iveco. Some 19th-century waiting rooms survived, but were finally demolished in the 1980's.
