Chester Train Station

Chester railway station, operated by Arriva Trains Wales, serves the city of Chester, England. The station has a staffed ticket office and passengers are also able to collect tickets purchased in advance (for example, on the internet) from one of the automatic ticket machines located in the station. From 1875 to 1969 the station was known as Chester General station in order to distinguish from Chester Northgate.

Facilities at the station include ATM's, pay phones, cafe and bar, shops, toilets and baby changing facilities.

The station has seven platforms which cater for all passenger services operated by Arriva Trains Wales, Merseyrail, Northern Rail and Virgin Trains. Platform 1 is mainly used for Virgin Trains destined for London. Platform 2 is mainly used for trains heading towards Cardiff and Birmingham via Wrexham and Shrewsbury. Platform 3 is used for trains heading towards North Wales. Additional London bound services along with services to Cardiff and Birmingham use Platform 4. Platforms 5 and 6 are used for services on the Mid Cheshire Line and finally, Platform 7 is mainly used for terminating trains from Manchester via Warrington and for Merseyrail Electrics services.

Parking is available at the station for 113 vehicles and is open 24 hours a day.
