Stansted Airport Train Station

Stansted Airport railway station, operated by Greater Anglia, serves London Stansted Airport which is located in Essex, England. The station lies at the end of a short branch line off the West Anglia Main Line which connects London Liverpool Street with Ipswich and Norwich. The station was opened in 1991 as part of construction of a new airport terminal. The station was built as a through station for a possible future extension of the line towards Braintree although though a hotel since built immediately to the east of the station now prevents this. The station has a staffed ticket office and passengers are also able to collect tickets purchased in advance (for example, on the internet) from one of the automatic ticket machines located in the station.

Facilities at the station include ATM's, pay phones, public wifi, cafes, shops and toilets. Passengers should note that baby changing facilities are not available at the station.

Passenger services calling at the station are operated by CrossCountry and Greater Anglia and offer services towards London Liverpool Street (using the Stansted Express), Cambridge, Birmingham New Street, Peterborough, Leicester and Bishops Stortford.

Parking is available at the station for 5,000 vehicles and is open 24 hours a day.

Leicester Train Station

Located in Leicestershire, Leicester railway station offers passengers destinations including London, Nottingham, Derby, Sheffield, Leeds, York, Lincoln, Skegness, Kettering, Bedford, Luton, Loughborough, Birmingham, Cambridge, Stanstead Airport and Peterborough.

Leicester railway station is operated by East Midlands Trains and is located on the main line from London St Pancras to Sheffield and Nottingham. Passenger services calling at the station are operated by East Midlands Trains and CrossCountry. The railway through Leicester is not electrified, so all services are operated by diesel trains. This is set to change by 2019 when a scheme to electrify the remainder of the Midland Main Line is to be completed. This, along with faster line speeds, means the city will be under 60 minutes from London.

Facilities at the station include ATM's, First Class Lounge, pay phones, public wifi, cafe, shops, toilets and baby changing facilities. Parking is available at the station for 515 vehicles and is open 24 hours a day. The main entrance to the station is on London Road. A slope takes pedestrians towards Station Street and the City centre. The station is based on two island platforms which are wide with a long series of buildings. Inside these buildings are many services and amenities including a newsagent and several food outlets including a licensed restaurant.
