Leicester railway station, operated by East Midlands Trains, serves the Leicestershire city of Leicester and lies on the main line from London St Pancras to Sheffield and Nottingham. The station has a staffed ticket office and passengers are also able to collect tickets purchased in advance (for example, on the internet) from one of the automatic ticket machines located in the station.Facilities at the station include ATM's, First Class Lounge, pay phones, public wifi, cafe, shops, toilets and baby changing facilities.The station is an interchange point between the Midland Main Line from London St Pancras to Leeds and services on the Cross Country Route from Birmingham through Cambridge to Stansted Airport and Norwich. Plans are underway to electrify the section of the Midland Main Line that is not electrified. Once completed faster speeds will be possible and as a result journey times to London will be under one hour.Passenger services calling at the station are operated by East Midlands Trains and Cross Country.
