Ipswich railway station, operated by Abellio Greater Anglia, and serves the town of Ipswich in Suffolk, England, and lies on the Great Eastern Main Line which connects London Liverpool Street in the City of London with destinations in east London and the East of England, including Chelmsford, Colchester, Ipswich, Norwich and several coastal resorts such as Clacton-on-Sea and Walton-on-the-Naze. It is also a short distance from the junction between the East Coast Main Line and the East Suffolk Line which connects Ipswich to Lowestoft. The station has a staffed ticket office although passengers should note that it is not open in the late evening. Passengers are able to collect tickets purchased in advance (for example, on the internet) from one of the automatic ticket machines located in the station.

Facilities at the station include ATM's, pay phones, First Class Lounge, public wifi, cafe, shops, toilets and baby changing facilities.

London Liverpool Street railway station is operated by Network Rail and is the terminus of the West Anglia Main Line which runs from London Liverpool Street north through Cheshunt, Broxbourne, Harlow, Bishop's Stortford and Audley End (near Saffron Walden) to Cambridge, with branches serving Hertford and Stansted Airport. It is also the terminus of the Great Eastern Main Line which connects Liverpool Street with destinations in east London and the East of England. Passenger services calling at the station are operated by Greater Anglia, c2c and London Overground.

The station was opened in 1874 as a replacement for the Great Eastern Railway's main London terminus, Bishopsgate station, which was subsequently converted into a goods yard. Liverpool Street was built as a dual-level station with an underground station opened in 1875 for the Metropolitan Railway. It was called Bishopsgate until 1909 when it was renamed Liverpool Street. An additional station called Bishopsgate (Low Level) existed on the mainline just outside of Liverpool Street from 1872 until 1916.
